day of the seas
The Day of the Seas, also known as World Maritime Day, is held every year on 8. celebrated in June, to raise awareness of the importance of the seas and oceans to life on earth. The day was launched by the United Nations and has the goal, increase awareness of the threats, to which the seas and their inhabitants are exposed.
Events are often held on this day, organized activities and campaigns, to promote awareness of the beauty and importance of the seas, and to increase understanding of the issues and challenges, currently threatening them. These challenges include climate change, overfishing, Marine pollution and habitat loss.
Maritime Day reminds us of this, that the seas and oceans are vital to sustaining life on earth, and that it is our shared responsibility, protect and conserve these resources.
